Editorial Policy

The standards that guide reporting, editing, and publication decisions at The Middle Belt Voice.

Guiding principles

  • Accuracy and verification: We verify facts where possible, clearly state uncertainty, and distinguish confirmed reporting from analysis or opinion.
  • Editorial labeling: Articles are labeled by format (news, feature, opinion, analysis, interview, sponsored) to help readers understand context.
  • Independence: Editorial decisions are made independently. Advertorial or sponsored content is clearly labeled when applicable.
  • Fairness and accountability: We provide reasonable opportunity for clarification where relevant and correct errors promptly through our corrections process.

Use of sources

We cite sources where appropriate and avoid anonymous attribution unless there is a compelling and verifiable reason consistent with editorial judgment.

Corrections

When factual errors are brought to our attention, we assess them promptly and correct material errors with appropriate clarification. See our Corrections Policy.
